From on-set practice to an internationally recognised sustainability system
Green Toolkit was founded to solve a practical industry problem:
sustainability requirements in film and TV were increasing rapidly — but production workflows were fragmented, manual and difficult to verify.
What started as hands-on sustainability consulting on German productions evolved into a structured digital system for carbon accounting, reporting and certification alignment.
From early use in German-Austrian productions to award-winning projects such as Greed and Fear and The School of Magical Animals 3, the system proved that sustainability in film is measurable, auditable and production-ready.
In 2023, Grüner Werkzeugkasten GmbH was formally established.
In 2024, Green Toolkit received ISO 14067 certification through GUTcert, expanding internationally with productions in Europe and North America, including collaborations with A24 and Red Bull Media House.
Today, Green Toolkit connects tools, certification pathways and on-ground implementation into one consistent sustainability framework for film and TV productions worldwide.
